UNIVERSAL Center for Language and Social Communication offers you an opportunity of a lifetime to learn Spanish quickly while focusing on the specific skills you need. Whether you're a beginner and want basic skills in speaking, listening, reading and writing, intermediate or advanced and need specialized vocabulary for your job, or a native speaker who would like to increase your vocabulary by studying the literature, culture and history of Mexico, we have specialized classes that you will find exhilarating and effective. Your Spanish skills will improve quickly because you will be immersed in 3 to 5 hours of classtime a day, plus a local homestay, where you'll practice conversation skills at every meal with your Mexican family. More important, you'll be part of the family and will discover a new way to communicate in a different culture.

In the late afternoon, you can walk to the nearby zócalo (the main square) and observe the vibrant scene, people of all ages enjoying live music, Aztec dancing, samba, local artists and artisans selling their products, or you can relax in one of the outdoor cafes. Or you might want to return to UNIVERSAL in the afternoon for a lecture, movie, dance class, or a swim in the pool.

Our instructors bring varying fields of expertise to their teaching, including political science, the fine arts, history, archaeology, and many other disciplines. They also bring their individual talents and interests by designing activities that will enhance your language study, such as excursions to points of cultural and historical interest, and a timely lecture series exploring many topics concerning Mexico and Latin America.

We also promote community involvement through volunteer programs and opportunities for independent fieldwork in Cuernavaca and the surrounding valley. Many possibilities are available for students who wish to enhance their Spanish. Cultural study and the exchange of ideas are important parts of the school´s philosophy and approach.
